Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro

Representing the 3rd District of Connecticut

DeLauro Statement on Passage of the FY2019 Energy and Water Development, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Legislative Branch Bill

September 13, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC (September 13, 2018) - Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement after voting in favor of the 2019 Energy and Water Development, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Legislative Branch Appropriations bill.

“Although this is not the bill that Democrats would have written, this bill funds many initiatives that will help people across Connecticut and the entire country,” said DeLauro. “It supports clean energy and transformational science programs, provides new resources for veterans suffering from the opioid epidemic or mental health issues, funds infrastructure improvements at VA facilities, and creates a program to compensate interns in the House of Representatives for their hard work.”

“This bill—at my request—supports funding priorities across Connecticut, including $120 million for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell research, $5 million to the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program, $37.8 million for the Clean Cities Program, and $257 million in storm weatherization assistance for low-income households,” continued DeLauro. “While many of these programs deserve even more federal support, the funding provided by this bill is an important step forward toward supporting green jobs in Connecticut and investing in our state’s future.”
