DELAURO STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF DR. MEL GOLDSTEIN

New Haven, CT— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today on the passing of WTNH Weatherman Dr. Mel Goldstein.

"I was deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Mel Goldstein's passing today, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially his wife Arlene. Dr. Mel was a brilliant scientist, a trusted voice in Connecticut and a dear friend. His unique ability to translate complicated science into easy-to-understand information coupled with his energetic personality helped make him into a local legend. And in bringing his personal battle with multiple myeloma to the public, Dr. Mel transformed the most frightening experience of his life into one of the most inspiring of ours. As someone who has had cancer, I have enormous respect and admiration for his willingness to be so open about something so personal. Rain or shine, Dr. Mel brightened all our days."
