Former State Senator Was Tireless Advocate for Stratford

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today released the following statement on the passing of former state senator George "Doc" Gunther:

"Doc was a dedicated public servant and tirelessly advocated for the people of Stratford. I was fortunate enough to work with him on many issues over the years, including efforts to preserve Connecticut's manufacturing base. I was always struck by his passion and good nature and will remember the good times we had together.

"Doc was the self-proclaimed ‘Greatest Senator in the World,' and today we remember him as such. He was truly an institution in the community and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him."
