WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) releasedthe following statement today on the Supreme Court's decisions in Hollingsworthv. Perry (California's Proposition 8) and Windsor v. United States (Defenseof Marriage Act).

"Today is a victory for equality. Barring LGBT Americansfrom marriage violates the values we hold dear—justice, freedom and equality.It makes no difference who someone loves and denying them the same rights asheterosexual couples is just plain wrong. Today's decisions will make us afairer and better nation."
