DeLauro Statement on Trump Administration Undermining the Affordable Care Act

January 4, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC (January 4, 2018) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding the Department of Labor's (DOL) proposed rule to allow associations to sell health plans that do not comply with coverage regulations outlined in the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

"The Trump Administration's proposed regulation is another step in their misguided plan to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and force the American people to pay more for less health coverage. This action may lead to increased premiums for those with pre-existing conditions, who are most in need of affordable coverage. That is wrong, and it is shameful. The American people are looking to their elected officials to bring healthcare costs down and expand access, not carry out an ideological agenda that will hurt Americans in the process. In that spirit, I once again urge the President and Congressional Republicans to come to the table with Democrats and work on improving the Affordable Care Act to make healthcare more affordable for all Americans."
