DeLauro Statement on Yale President Peter Salovey Stepping Down at the End of the Academic Year
Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released a statement on Yale University President Peter Salovey’s announcement that he will be stepping down as president of the University at the end of the 2023-24 academic year.
“President Salovey has been a strikingly effective leader for Yale and a dedicated partner to the City of New Haven. Throughout his tenure, I have been proud to partner with him to bring federal funding for groundbreaking research projects to Yale. He has steered the university in the direction of innovation, providing resources and opportunities for the Yale community to thrive in educational and research pursuits. In doing so, he has enriched Yale’s reputation as one of our nation’s leading institutes of higher learning.
“Since its founding in 1701, Yale University has played a vital role in the historical, social, and economic fabric of New Haven, and I am happy that this town-gown relationship was strengthened under President Salovey’s leadership. I look forward to working together further as he serves as president for the remainder of the academic year and wish him and his family well as they embark on their next chapter.”
