DELAURO VISITS SHORELINE COMMUNITIES IMPACTED BY STORM
New Haven, CT — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) met with local residents and visited shoreline communities impacted by Tropical Storm Irene today to view damage and the ongoing recovery efforts.
Congresswoman DeLauro attended East Haven Mayor April Capone's Help Fair, which brought together officials from FEMA, the Red Cross, Connecticut insurance companies, United Illuminated, Connecticut Light & Power, AT&T, Comcast, United Way, and more to address constituents' concerns. She then toured shoreline towns in the 3rd District affected by the storm, including Guilford, Branford, East Haven, Milford, Stratford, and West Haven. The Congresswoman plans to visit communities throughout the district that were impacted by the storm.
"I am saddened to see the devastation from Tropical Storm Irene along our beautiful shoreline and throughout the state. The road to recovery will be difficult, but I am pleased to see what people are getting done in partnership with their local and state governments and with the help of federal relief agencies. But there is a long way to go, and I will continue to work to ensure that people and businesses get the help they need to recover and move forward. I encourage people to contact my office immediately if they are in need of any assistance."
