DeLauro Votes to Block Trump from Withdrawing U.S. from Paris Climate Agreement

May 2, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement after voting in favor of the Climate Action Now Act (H.R. 9), which would prevent President Trump from withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.

"Today, the House of Representatives fulfilled its duty to check the President's climate-denying actions. The facts are clear, and there should be no debate: climate change is real. It is an urgent problem. And our country must address it. The Paris Agreement set out an ambitious plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the United States should not withdraw from it. Left unchecked, climate change will continue to have disastrous effects on our environment, our public health, our food safety, our economy, and our national security. We cannot allow climate-deniers to set the legislative agenda any longer. The time to act is now."
