DELAURO WELCOMES ARMY VETERAN TO HER STAFF

November 9, 2011

Washington, DC— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) announced today that Aleksandr Morosky, a former Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, has joined her New Haven staff to work on veterans and constituent services.

Morosky served in the Infantry for seven years and deployed three times. During his second tour of duty in Iraq, Morosky was in a vehicle struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and was seriously wounded. He received the Purple Heart, and after leaving the Army, enrolled in the University of Connecticut and earned a degree in Political Science.

After graduation, Morosky became involved with the Wounded Warrior Program through the House of Representatives, which provides fellowships in Congressional offices to veterans. Each two-year fellowship gives veterans the opportunity to gain experience and broaden the scope of their careers.

"There are many obstacles veterans face, especially those who have been wounded, when returning home from deployment overseas. Helping them overcome these difficulties is certainly challenging, but enjoyable and very rewarding," said Morosky. "I am thrilled to be part of Congresswoman DeLauro's office and look forward to continuing to help my fellow veterans in any way I can."

"Aleks's knowledge and experience will be enormously helpful as he works with our local veterans," said Congresswoman DeLauro. "I believe we have a moral obligation to these brave men and women who have risked their lives for our country— and that obligation does not end with their service. Once our veterans have returned home, we must do all we can to ensure they get the help they need in returning to their communities, getting any medical care needed, and moving forward. Aleks will play an integral role in assisting the 3rd District's veterans, and I am delighted to have him as part of my office."
