WASHINGTON, DC – House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) welcomed Hamden High School Student Morgan Collins, a National Youth Correspondent at the Washington Journalism and Media Conference held at George Mason University. Morgan Collins is a 10th grader at Hamden High School in Connecticut's Third Congressional District.

"Morgan is an astounding student, and I am so proud to welcome her to Washington to hear about her work as a National Youth Correspondent," said Chair DeLauro. "The Washington Journalism and Media Conference is an opportunity for students from all over the country to experience an integrated approach to journalism. We have an obligation to build up the next generation of leaders and journalists who can communicate with the world. I had an opportunity to sit down with Morgan to discuss Congress' work to keep schools safe and the impact of the Supreme Court's ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. This is impacting our young people all over the country, and they need to have a voice. I am thankful to Morgan and student-leaders who are dedicated to pushing this country forward."

"Having the opportunity to speak with Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro was an eye opening experience to see how Congress works," said Morgan Collins. "The open communication that we had expresses how dedicated she is to her constituents. I will use the information I have learned from this conference and her meetings in my career going forward."

The Washington Journalism and Media Conference is an interactive program that provides high-achieving high school students with an interest in journalism, media, and related fields with a unique experience exploring careers in these areas.
