DeLauro Welcomes Passage of NDAA FDA Fix Protecting Injured Troops

November 15, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 15, 2017) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement applauding the House passage of a bill ensuring any troops injured in combat would only be treated with Food and Drug Administration-reviewed medical drugs and devices. This legislation comes on the heels of DeLauro's letter requesting the provision within the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) be changed.

"Our nation's men and women in uniform deserve the best treatment possible, especially when it comes to their health. We have a responsibility to ensure that troops injured in combat are treated safely and effectively, not subject to medical experiments on the battlefield. With the passage of this bill, we are ensuring our troops will continue to benefit from the FDA's medical and scientific expertise."
