President Biden Proposes Enactment of DeLauro Policies in 2025 Budget

Child Tax Credit, Paid Family and Medical Leave, and Paid Sick Days Help Working Americans

Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released a statement in response to the family programs outlined in President Biden’s 2025 budget proposal.

“I am pleased that President Biden’s FY25 budget would restore the expanded, monthly Child Tax Credit as it was under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which was signed into law three years ago today. This legislation cut child poverty nearly in half in 2021, cut hunger by 26 percent, and produced $8 in social and economic benefits for every $1 spent. It is an antidote to rising costs, and the largest tax cut for middle-class families in a generation. We must immediately extend it.

“I am also pleased that the President’s budget calls for the creation of a paid family and medical leave program that would provide up to 12 weeks of paid leave for workers in the event they need to take time off work to care for their health or the health of a loved one. I also echo the President’s call to enact legislation, like my Healthy Families Act, that would require employers to provide paid sick days each year to all workers.

“I look forward to working with President Biden in shaping a federal budget that delivers a more prosperous future for everyday Americans.”
