WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) releasedthe following statement today marking the 40th anniversary of the Roevs. Wade decision.
"Forty years ago today history was made when the SupremeCourt ensured that abortion would remain a safe and legal procedure for womento consider, if and when they need it. Unfortunately, Republicans arestill insisting on interfering with what should be a decision between a womanand her doctor. What we should be doing is working every day to reduceunintended pregnancies and keep women healthy.
"And thanks to the Affordable Care Act, millions more womenwill have easier access to preventive health care services--includingcontraception--that will do exactly this. Generations of American womenwill lead healthier lives as a result, benefiting not just these women, but theirfamilies as well."
