Rosa DeLauro Marks End of Hispanic Heritage Month

NEWHAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statementtoday marking the end of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September15 through October 15 every year.

"HispanicHeritage Month honors the Hispanic community by paying tribute to theextraordinary contributions they have and continue to make to America. Here in Connecticut's Third District, from Casa Oto?al and the SpanishCommunity of Wallingford to the Spanish American Merchants Association, LaVóz,and ARTE, our Latino community is strong and vibrant - - celebrating andsharing their many traditions and histories with us all.

"Economically,culturally and politically, Latinos are a vital part of Connecticut, andAmerica. As the fastest growing ethnic group in the country, the 47.5million-strong Hispanic community makes America a better and strongernation. American life has been enriched by their contributions tobusiness, education, government and the arts.

"The character of our nation has been shaped bythe many cultures of its people and I am proud to have this opportunity tocelebrate the contributions and heritage of our Hispanic community."
