Rural Housing Communities Spared from Losing Critical Benefits

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) todayapplauded the United States Department of Agriculture's decision to preserveaccess to rural housing benefits for over 900 rural communities—includingGuilford, North Branford and Seymour. The decision ensures thesecommunities can continue to access programs such as affordable mortgagefinancing for lower-income rural families through March 27, 2013.

"I am thrilled that communities across the nation, includingGuilford, North Branford and Seymour, will be able to continue to benefit fromaccess to affordable housing. I look forward to continuing to work with mycolleagues towards long-term certainty for these rural families andcommunities."

Last month, DeLauro joined over 100 of her colleagues in abipartisan letter urging action on this issue. USDA's decision keepsthese benefits intact for 33 Connecticut communities.
