South Central Connecticut Community Health Centers Win Federal Grant

Will Help Uninsured Residents Gain Access to HealthCare and Insurance

WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) todayapplauded the announcement that $574,877 in grants have been awarded to fourcommunity health centers in South Central Connecticut to enroll uninsuredAmericans in new health coverage options made available by the Affordable CareAct. With these funds, health centers are expected to hire additionaloutreach and eligibility assistance workers to assist millions of peoplenationwide with enrollment into affordable health coverage.

"This is yet another example of the Affordable Care Act helpingensure access to affordable, quality health insurance. We all know thatselecting and enrolling in a new health care plan can be complicated and, withthese grants, our outstanding community health centers will now have one moreresource to help people pick the best insurance for themselves and theirfamilies."

These awards will support staff who will work with consumersto navigate their coverage options through the new Health InsuranceMarketplace, Access Health CT. They will also help determine an individual'seligibility for Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program; anyfinancial help they may be eligible for; and enroll them in new affordablehealth coverage options.

· Fair Haven Community Health Clinic Inc.; NewHaven; $104,606

· Staywell Health Care, Inc.; Waterbury; $102,692

Community health centers have a long history of providingeligibility assistance to patients along with delivering high-quality, primaryhealth care services in communities across the nation. Today, healthcenters serve more than 21 million patients annually.
