Statement on USDA Recall of Contaminated Ground Beef from Fairbank Farms

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) issued the following statement on the recent USDA recall of almost 546,000 pounds of ground beef by Fairbank Farms of Ashville NY, due to E. coli contamination.

"This recall is especially disturbing considering the meat industry recently used misleading data to assert on national television that the threat from E. coli has declined. Clearly the problem is continuing to threaten American families. Given that this particular facility was linked to two previous recalls in the past two years, we have more work to do to ensure that all meat products are properly inspected before it is sold in stores."
