Chair DeLauro Applauds $8 Million Award to Expand Registered Apprenticeships

December 17, 2021

WASHINGTON – House Appropriations Committee Chair and Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee Chair Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement celebrating the U.S. Department of Labor's award of more than $8 million in contract investments to four national Industry Intermediaries to expand the use of Registered Apprenticeship in sectors affected by the pandemic:

"With this much-needed investment, President Biden and Secretary Walsh are proving yet again that training our workforce and providing Americans with the skills they need to thrive is one of their highest priorities. By focusing on our care economy, electric power generation, key supply chains, and the transportation industry, this funding for industry intermediaries will create new partnerships across the nation that will boost our economy and help change the lives of working families.

"For years, as Chair of the Appropriations subcommittee that determines federal funding for labor programs, I know firsthand the profound ways in which registered apprenticeships and job training programs can help furnish our workers with the resources and skills they need to build successful careers and a path to a brighter, more prosperous future. I will continue working with the Biden Administration to ensure that these funds go to the sectors and workers hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic."
