Chair DeLauro Statement on Ukraine

NEW HAVEN – House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement regarding United States involvement in Ukraine:

"The United States has an obligation to support our democratic allies in Ukraine, and the Biden administration is right to prioritize diplomacy and de-escalation tactics to ease the current tensions.

"I have had the privilege of visiting Kyiv and speaking with leaders in government and civil society who have fought for justice and opportunity for the Ukrainian people. I also have the honor of representing many of Connecticut's Ukrainian-American families in Congress. The Ukrainian people have the most to lose from an escalated conflict. We must prioritize their needs as we negotiate an end to the rising tensions.

"I stand in solidarity with Ukraine. If there is a Russian incursion, the United States and our allies must be ready to support our democratic partners in Ukraine."
