Congresswoman DeLauro Remembers State Representative Terry Backer
WASHINGTON, DC (December 15, 2015) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement on the passing of State Representative Terry Backer (121st District).
"Terry Backer was one-in-a-million. He was a devoted public servant and a fierce advocate for the Long Island Sound. For more than two decades, he represented the residents of the 121st Assembly District, dedicating his time and energies to making a difference for families in Stratford and across Connecticut. Terry displayed a remarkable commitment to his work, both as a State Legislator and Soundkeeper, and he will be missed by many."
"A lobsterman by trade, Terry’s true passion was for the Long Island Sound and its continued health and vitality. He made sure that his colleagues understood the importance of the Sound, not only to the Stratford community he represented, but to our state as well. Terry brought a unique perspective to the General Assembly and he leaves a legacy of public service that will certainly continue to inspire others."
"I consider myself fortunate to have called Terry my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time."
