Congresswoman DeLauro Wishes Families a Relaxing and Healthy Holiday
NEW HAVEN, CT (November 25, 2015)— As families prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) reminds constituents about the helpful tips provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
“The pressure to prepare the perfect Thanksgiving dinner is something that we can all relate to, regardless of experience in the kitchen.” said Congresswoman DeLauro. “The USDA and CDC provide excellent resources for how to properly thaw, prepare, and stuff your turkey to avoid getting sick. For example, it is recommended to cook the stuffing separately from the bird so the turkey cooks evenly and thoroughly.”
“This is the time of year when we gather with family and friends and give thanks for our many blessings.” continued DeLauro. “I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving and holiday season.”
Americans endure around 76 million cases of food poisoning each year, according to estimates from the advocacy group Center for Science in the Public Interest. USDA’s Top Turkey Resources and CDC’s Turkey Time tips are readily available online. DeLauro is a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture.
