CT Delegation Announces $12.4 Million In Emergency Preparedness Funding

July 29, 2015

Funding will enhance Connecticut’s capacity to prevent & respond to emergencies & natural disasters

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and U.S. Congressmen John Larson (CT-1), Joe Courtney (CT-2), Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Jim Himes (CT-4), and Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded the State of Connecticut over $12 million in federal funding to enhance the capacity of state and local emergency responders to prepare for, prevent, respond to, and recover from potential terrorist attacks, major natural disasters, and other emergencies.

“At a time when our nation faces unprecedented challenges abroad, our local first responders and state security keep us secure here at home. Thanks to the support of FEMA, our first responders will have the resources they need to prepare for disasters and ensure the safety of our local communities,” the Connecticut delegation said. “These grants are exactly the kind of proactive federal investment we should be making to make our communities more resilient and stop devastation before it occurs, and we will continue to work hard to bring more funding back home to keep our state safe.”
