DeLauro and Watson Coleman Introduce Diaper Bank Awareness Week Resolution

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12)  introduced a resolution hailing the week of September 14th as National Diaper Need Awareness Week.

"One in three families do not have enough diapers to keep their children clean, dry, and healthy," said Congresswoman DeLauro. “In one of the richest countries on earth, that is totally unacceptable. I am thrilled to join with my friend and colleague Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman to express our gratitude for local banks and distribution programs for providing a stable and sustainable supply of free diapers to families that are struggling with diaper need in this cost of living crisis. I encourage Americans to continue to support their local diaper bank and children who are in need."

"At a time when everyday costs for Americans are higher than ever and parents are trying to figure out how to adequately take care of their families, nearly half of parents struggle to afford diapers for their children," said Congresswoman Watson Coleman. "Having access to and being able to afford diapers is a basic need. Diapers, which are considered medical supplies, are a vital component of maternal health care. No family should struggle to get them. I thank Rep. DeLauro for continuing to raise awareness of this issue and working with diaper banks to keep our kids healthy.
