DeLauro Announces New Communications Director
WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Chair of the House Appropriations Committee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, today announced Katelynn Thorpe will serve as her Communications Director. Katelynn Thorpe most recently served as Communications Director for Congresswoman Nita Lowey (NY-17), Chair of the House Appropriations Committee. A graduate from the University of California Berkeley, she previously taught middle school math as a Teach For America educator in Providence, Rhode Island. While teaching, Thorpe earned her Master’s in Education from Rhode Island College. Thorpe replaces Will Serio, who will be attending the University of California Berkeley School of Law.
“While I was sad to see Will leave our team after almost three years of excellence in communications, I am delighted to announce that Katelynn Thorpe will be taking over as Communications Director,” said Congresswoman DeLauro. “Her previous experience serving the people of the 17th Congressional District of NY will certainly be an asset to the people of my district. Katelynn's passion for public service will also be of great benefit to my team as we work to make government work for people — ensure economic security for the most vulnerable, provide much-needed relief for Connecticut working families during the pandemic, and work to dismantle systemic racism.”
