DeLauro Applauds Extension of Connecticut Education Waiver
August 6, 2015
NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro released the following statement regarding the extension of Connecticut’s ESEA waiver:
“I applaud today’s announcement that the U.S. Department of Education will extend Connecticut’s waiver from the constraint of unrealistic and unfair requirements in No Child Left Behind, where student achievement is unreliably measured by test scores.
“However, we need to do more than just provide waivers from laws that are not working – we need to fix those laws. We need comprehensive education reforms that address the broader reasons why students may be underperforming and we need to ensure that our elementary and secondary schools have the resources they need to help our children learn.”
