DeLauro, Blumenthal, Murphy Statement On Federal Disaster Declaration Amendment To Include New Haven

May 8, 2015

Hartford, CT – U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), with Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn-3) today issued a joint statement on the amendment to include New Haven County, Connecticut in the federal disaster declaration issued by President Obama in April. This declaration resulted in the release of federal funds to help Connecticut communities recover from damages incurred from the January blizzard, action requested by the Connecticut Congressional Delegation in a letter to the President earlier that month.

““New Haven County will finally be provided the critical resources needed to fully recover from January’s blizzard. Following the President’s declaration last month, we were thankful that the federal government recognized the need for relief in Connecticut – but the omission of New Haven was a serious oversight. That’s why we have fought so hard to ensure all the hard-hit communities in our state get the resources they need.”
