DeLauro Calls on Chairman Cole to End Gag Order on HHS Drug Price Report
WASHINGTON, DC (December 19, 2016) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement to urge Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Tom Cole to revoke his hold on the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Report: Prescription Drugs: Innovation, Spending, and Patient Access.
“By blocking the American people from seeing the HHS Drug Price report, Chairman Cole is denying the public critical information on spiraling drug spending in Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs,” said DeLauro. “This report shows that spending on prescription drugs is skyrocketing across all the federal health programs and deserves to see the light of day.”
The 2016 Omnibus required HHS to submit a report to Congress analyzing federal spending on drugs in Medicare, Medicaid, and the Veterans Affairs health program.
