DeLauro Celebrates 90th Anniversary of the First Day of Work at Pratt & Whitney

August 3, 2015

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today celebrating the 90th anniversary of the first day of work at Pratt & Whitney.

“Ninety years ago today, 24 men and two women reported for their first day of work on Capitol Avenue in Hartford. Less than five months later, they had produced their first engine, the Wasp. Today Pratt & Whitney employs more than 9,000 people in East Hartford and Middletown, and they build the F135 engine. They are a key player in the aviation industry and help safeguard our national security. I could not be prouder to call them Nutmeggers. Congratulations to everyone at Pratt & Whitney on 90 years of innovation and I look forward to 90 more.

Last week DeLauro honored Pratt & Whitney on the floor of the House of Representatives. Those remarks can be viewed here.
