DeLauro Celebrates Groundbreaking on Fourth Phase of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail
DeLauro Secured an Additional $10 Million for the Project in 2005
NEW HAVEN – House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) issued this statement celebrating the groundbreaking on the fourth phase of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail:
“The day has finally come to complete the last leg of this historic reconnection through central Connecticut, from Northampton, Massachusetts, to the Canal Dock Boathouse. Connecticut and the Northeast have been leaders over the past two decades in constructing greenways as a cleaner and greener intermodal bike and pedestrian option.
“In addition to the regular federal funding allocated to the project, I was happy to secure an additional $10 million in 2005 which was used to construct several portions of the trail in Hamden and New Haven. It has been an honor to work with the Town of Hamden and the City of New Haven on this project over the years which creates good paying jobs, promotes public health, and improves the environment. I look forward to celebrating the finished product after the completion of this final phase.”
