DeLauro Celebrates National Senior Health and Fitness Day
Joined PickleBall Game at Stratford Senior Center Yesterday
WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today celebrating National Senior Health and Fitness Day:
“Our doctors tell us time and again about the importance of staying active. They are right. The benefits of exercise are endless. It improves our physical strength, fitness and balance; helps us manage chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease and osteoporosis; lifts our mood; and supports our overall well-being.
“The bottom line is that exercise is important. I applaud everyone who is staying active and encourage them to keep doing so.”
Yesterday DeLauro joined PickleBall players at the Baldwin Senior Center in Stratford, Connecticut, part of the district she represents. PickleBall is a combination of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. The theme of National Senior Health and Fitness Day 2015 is “If you keep moving, you’ll keep improving.” Over 100,000 older adults will participate in activities at more than 1,000 locations today.
