DeLauro Congratulates Clifford Beers Clinic for Winning Health Care Innovation Award
WASHINGTON, DC—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today issued the following statement applauding the Clifford Beers Clinic for winning a Health Care Innovation Award. The award, given by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will go towards developing and implementing “Wrap Around New Haven.”
“I have had many opportunities to work closely with the professionals at the Clifford Beers Clinic and have always been impressed with the quality of work they are able to accomplish. This is all the more impressive when you consider the limited resources they are often forced to deal with. This grant will enable the Clinic to provide innovative care that will greatly benefit many New Haven families. That the Clinic won such a highly competitive award is a testament to the work they do for those families.
“I am particularly encouraged by the variety of groups involved in this effort, which shows the outstanding level of care available in New Haven and across Connecticut. Congratulations to everyone involved. I look forward to seeing “Wrap Around New Haven” become a model of care for other cities across the nation.”
The “Wrap Around New Haven” initiative will include a team of community-based care coordinators. These coordinators will work with children and families who are in high need situations and are high cost Medicaid recipients. The coordinators will work with each family to create a care plan that encompasses both primary care and behavioral health. The benefits will be two-fold: ensuring families get necessary health care and reducing the strain on Medicaid.
