DeLauro Honors Middletown Veteran Frank Augeri with Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal

September 22, 2015

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) today honored Korean War veteran and Middletown native Frank Augeri with the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal. The Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal is an expression of appreciation from the South Korean government to U.S. service men and women who served in the Korean War.

“Frank’s record of service, in both military and civilian life, is an inspiration and example to us all. No one could be more deserving of this prestigious award. It was my honor and privilege to present Frank Augeri with the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal.”

Mr. Augeri previously received the Bronze Star with a “V” for valor for aiding wounded service members while under attack in Korea. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army’s 34th infantry from December 1952-April 1954. In civilian life, Mr. Augeri has devoted himself to the Middletown community, coaching and managing a little league team, building a food pantry at his church, and serving on the board of the Middletown Italian-American Civic Order.

Over the years DeLauro has helped hundreds of veterans like Frank Augeri get the medals and the recognition they deserve. Her office is ready to assist other veterans and their families obtain the delayed medals they are due. Connecticut’s Third Congressional District has 40,292 veterans living in it, six percent of the total population.
