DeLauro Responds To Administration Announcement on Contraception Coverage under the Affordable Care Act
NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today responding to the Obama Administration’s announcement regarding access to contraceptive coverage for religious non-profits and closely held for-profit businesses:
“Ninety-nine percent of sexually active women use birth control at least once in their lifetime. Today’s announcement will begin the process of ensuring that women, regardless of who they work for, are able to make their own health care decisions without interference from their bosses. That was the intent of the Affordable Care Act. I am proud to cosponsor the Protect Women’s Health from Corporate Interference Act of 2014, which would prohibit for-profit employers who maintain group health plans for their employees from using religious beliefs to deny employees coverage of any vital health service required by federal law.
