DeLauro Statement on Agreement Between Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company, and the State of Connecticut

March 28, 2022

House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement on Governor Lamont's announcement that the State of Connecticut has reached an agreement with Lockheed Martin that may bring new helicopter lines to Sikorsky and sustain 7,000 jobs in Stratford:

"I applaud the agreement announced today between Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company, and the State of Connecticut that signals the production of the next generation of helicopters set to replace the legendary Black Hawk will be made in Stratford, Connecticut.

"This historic proposal would keep Sikorsky's headquarters in Connecticut's Third District for at least the next 20 years and ensure the security of more than 7,000 jobs. As federal contract decisions are being considered regarding Future Vertical Lift helicopters, I will continue to work with Sikorsky to ensure that our military continues to have access to the safest and best equipment in the world. I urge the Connecticut General Assembly to quickly approve this proposal, and as always, I will continue to fight to create jobs in Connecticut's Third Congressional District, home of the world's best helicopters, and invest in our local economy."
