DeLauro Statement on Child Programs in FY24 Biden Budget
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released a statement in response to preliminary reports on child program funding in the FY24 budget proposed by the Biden Administration.
“Based on preliminary reporting, I am proud that President Biden is expected to propose an extension of the expanded and improved Child Tax Credit (CTC). That is a great first step, and I will work with the President to pass my American Family Act into law to finally make the CTC permanent. I have worked on expanding and improving the Child Tax Credit since 2003, and I am proud to have the support of President Biden in this effort.
“I am also pleased that President Biden is proposing critical investments in programs that support our families and lift up our children, including reported increases of around $1 billion each for both Head Start and the Child Care and Development Block Grant. These investments would increase access to affordable, high-quality child care and early learning programs. I am also thrilled about the new mandatory child care program proposal, which will help states provide care for an additional 16 million kids. Together, these programs will lower costs for working families and provide needed financial stability to the working and middle class.”
