DeLauro Statement on Connecticut State Legislation on Striking Workers

June 2, 2025

Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released a statement in response to Connecticut’s state legislature passing legislation that would provide unemployment benefits for striking workers:

“As we have seen recently with the 3,000 Machinists at Pratt & Whitney and in so many other cases, unions are fundamental to our economy and to creating a fair playing field for working people. Unfortunately, workers are forced to choose between their next paycheck and benefits, and exercising their right to advocate for better wages and working conditions. That is why I support the federal Empowering Striking Workers Act and Senate Bill No. 8 in Connecticut, which would provide unemployment benefits to workers exercising their legally protected right to strike and protections for Connecticut warehouse workers. As representative for Connecticut’s Third Congressional District, I am focused on bringing down the skyrocketing cost of living and promoting economic prosperity and a pro-worker agenda.”
