DeLauro Statement on Court of Appeals Ruling Against Travel Ban

WASHINGTON, DC (February 9, 2017) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals' unanimous ruling against reinstating the Trump Administration's executive order barring immigration from seven countries in the Middle East.

"Tonight's Court of Appeals ruling is a victory for America and it restores our faith in American values, which will always win out over hate and fear. While the President has said that he will see us in court, I hope that the he will revisit his decision and will withdraw both his appeal and his executive order.

"As we saw in Connecticut and across the country, thousands of families have suffered unjustifiable harm as a result of this overreaching executive order. The President's actions have done nothing to make us safer and only threaten to make our nation a target. Tonight, the hopes and dreams of so many families are restored and I strongly believe that this ruling will be upheld."
