DeLauro Statement on Grand Opening of Stratford’s Victoria Soto School

NEW HAVEN, CT—Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) released the following statement today on the opening of the Victoria Soto School in Stratford:

“As a first-grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Victoria Soto was fulfilling the dream she had held dear since she was just three years old. Teaching was her passion and it was evident to everyone who crossed her path. Victoria was a hero in every sense of the word, not just on that fateful December day, but throughout her young life. A role model and mentor for family and friends alike, her kind heart, enthusiasm and zest for life were contagious.

“Victoria will forever be remembered by this community as a smart, compassionate young woman who was taken from us much too early. This new school, dedicated in her memory, will stand as a monument to her passion for teaching and serve as a reminder not only of the dreams she had for herself, but for those of all the youngsters she inspired.”
