DeLauro: "The American People have had enough of these games"

NEW HAVEN, CT – Chair-designate of the House Appropriations Committee Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) issued this statement on House Republicans blocking Democrats' Unanimous Consent request to increase economic impact payments to $2,000:

"As families look ahead to 2021 and search for joy this holiday season, they are again met with more of the same from this administration and Republicans: lofty promises, confusion, and inaction. The American people have had enough of these games.

"I, and my fellow Democrats in both the House and the Senate, fought for $2,000 payments. We know the value of these checks as families fend off eviction and fight to put food on the table. Republicans fought us every step of the way to $600, a fight the President had the opportunity to be a part of.

"I am ashamed of my Republican colleagues in the House for blocking this Unanimous Consent request and look forward to voting in favor of the standalone bill to increase these critical payments."
