DeLauro Statement on House Republicans’ Plan to Replace the Affordable Care Act

WASHINGTON, DC (March 6, 2017) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding the House Republicans' plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

"For seven years, House Republicans have ‘worked' to develop a replacement plan for the Affordable Care Act. However, what they finally unveiled for the American people is nothing more than a misguided bill that will dismantle our nation's health care system.

"The GOP replacement bill will cover fewer Americans, shift the cost of providing care to the states, and lower the quality of care that Americans receive. The bill also gives the top one percent a huge tax cut by repealing the tax on unearned income, while reducing the tax credits that many working Americans depend on to afford coverage. Millions of Americans rely on the ACA for lifesaving care and there is far too much on the line to let Republicans wreck our health care system in favor of giving tax cuts to the rich.

"With this bill, Republicans are abandoning the very Americans that President Trump claims to support and I will do everything that I can to fight their efforts to undermine and destroy the ACA."
