DeLauro Statement on the Indictment of the Planned Parenthood Accusers

WASHINGTON, DC (January 27, 2016) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement today regarding the recent indictment of the Planned Parenthood accusers.

“The indictment of the individuals involved in the ideological witch hunt against Planned Parenthood is welcome news to the millions of women who depend on Planned Parenthood services each year. The campaign against Planned Parenthood was driven by extremists opposed to abortion, who were willing to break our laws in an effort to discredit one of our nation’s leading providers of women’s health services.

“For many women, Planned Parenthood is the only way they can afford health care. The vital preventative care and family planning services they provide improve the quality of life for millions of Americans each year. Now it is time for the Republican House majority to end their attacks against Planned Parenthood. The Select Committee should be disbanded and the Republican Majority should abandon their efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.”

Connecticut’s 17 Planned Parenthood health centers served 64,001 patients in 2013 alone, conducting cancer screenings and providing family planning services.
