DeLauro Statement on Israeli Strike on School, Mosque in Gaza
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro released a statement in response to reports that an Israeli missile strike resulted in the deaths of at least 93 Palestinian civilians.
“I am shocked by the ongoing military campaign spearheaded by Israel in Gaza. As innocent families and children gathered for dawn prayers and school they were bombarded – with many losing their lives. Families have been forever torn apart by this carnage. This is the fifth strike on a school in Gaza by the Israeli military. Even one would have been unacceptable. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed – and nearly two million stand displaced.
“I am concerned by reports that munitions supplied by the United States were used to carry out this strike. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government continues to be indifferent to the loss of Palestinian lives. This must end.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government must prioritize a two-state solution, the protection of civilians, and an immediate ceasefire that frees the remaining hostages held by Hamas while dramatically increasing humanitarian aid in the region. Far too many innocent lives have been lost in this conflict.”
