DeLauro Statement on Manager’s Amendment to GOP Health Care Bill
WASHINGTON, DC (March 21, 2017) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding the Manager's Amendment to the Republicans' American Health Care Act, which includes 21 pages of edits. DeLauro is the Senior Democrat on the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee.
"Speaker Ryan's last minute effort to save his disastrous health care plan shows just how flawed the Republican health care plan actually is. Not only is Speaker Ryan planning to take away lifesaving health care for 24 million Americans and send premiums skyrocketing for millions more, he is now seeking to further cut Medicaid, which will hurt America's seniors, disabled, and children. Speaker Ryan's decision to shove this misguided plan through Congress and accelerate the tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans while removing more than $170 billion from Medicare is downright shameful. Speaker Ryan, pull this bill and stop your attacks on the Affordable Care Act, which is working and providing lifesaving care to millions."
