DeLauro Statement on Paid Sick Days for Federal Contractors

February 24, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC (February 24, 2016) Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement on the Department of Labor’s proposed rule to provide 828,000 workers who service federal contracts with up to seven days of paid sick leave annually, including paid leave for family care.

“The Labor Department’s proposed rule is great news for more than 800,000 American workers and their families. Not only is it in the best interest of employees to take care of themselves and their families, it benefits their colleagues and employers as well. Congress should follow the President’s lead and pass the Healthy Families Act to guarantee job-protected sick days for every American employee. As the only developed country that does not require employers to offer paid sick days, we must do better for hardworking families.”
