DeLauro Statement on the Passing of USW International President Tom Conway
Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released a statement on the passing of United Steel Workers (USW) International President Tom Conway.
“Throughout his entire life, Tom Conway never backed down from fighting for workers. From his start as a USW Local 6787 activist in 1978 to his tenure as USW International president since 2019, Tom championed workers every day. As the leader of USW, he fought for better jobs for over 800,000 workers in North America. An extremely skilled negotiator, he boldly went up against some of the country’s biggest corporations on behalf of working people—tirelessly advocating for fair trade and the protection and creation of good-paying American jobs. My thoughts and prayers are with Tom’s family. To all the members of USW, I stand in solidarity. Tom’s legacy of championing the dignity of workers continues on with you.”
