DeLauro Statement on Potential Litigation Regarding Long Island Sound Disposal Site

NEW HAVEN, CT (August 17, 2016) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding the threat of litigation from New York regarding the designation of the Eastern Long Island Sound Disposal Site.

"The EPA's proposed rule for the designation of the Eastern Long Island Sound Disposal Site (ELISDS) is the result of more than a decade of exhaustive study of future dredging needs and alternatives for the Long Island Sound - an effort with which New York has fully participated in. Connecticut's maritime industry contributes billions to our economy every year. The ability to maintain our ports and river ways is essential to its continued prosperity. That is why I fully support the approval of the proposed ELISDS."
