DeLauro Statement on Republican Rescission Package

WASHINGTON, DC (May 10, 2018) — Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Ranking Member of the Appropriations Subcommittee responsible for funding the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, today released the following statement regarding House Republicans' introduction of legislation mirroring the Trump Administration's rescission package request.

"President Trump and Congressional Republicans have reached a new low. Their latest scam takes $15.4 billion in federal funds away from working families and investments in our economy—budgeted for the Children's Health Insurance Program, Ebola response, medical innovation, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure projects, Hurricane Sandy relief, and the list goes on—in order to pay for a tiny fraction of their $1.5 trillion tax cut for the rich. Unfortunately, this is yet another example of their shamelessness and irresponsible governing. These funds should be reinvested to create jobs and help children and families, not millionaires and billionaires."
