DeLauro Statement on SBA Disaster Declaration Following May Tornadoes, Storms

NEW HAVEN, CT (October 10, 2018) – Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement after the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) declared a disaster for New Haven and contiguous counties of Fairfield, Middlesex, Hartford, and Litchfield following the tornadoes earlier this year.

"I welcome today's announcement from the SBA offering additional resources to homeowners and businesses to recover from May's tornadoes. That is a positive step for the people of Connecticut. Nevertheless, I remain disappointed that FEMA did not grant Individual Assistance to homeowners. People deserve to be made whole following natural disasters like the ones we saw earlier this year, and the federal government should not withhold vital resources—especially in regard to debris removal and emergency work."
