DeLauro Statement on Stop Work Order for Revolution Wind

August 27, 2025

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) issued the following statement regarding an order by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management halting all ongoing offshore activities for the Revolution Wind project:

“Affordable, reliable energy is essential for lowering the cost of living, and that is exactly what the Revolution Wind Project is designed to provide. When complete, this project will meet nearly five percent of Connecticut’s electric supply, powering nearly 350,000 homes in Connecticut and Rhode Island, and saving families hundreds of millions of dollars on electric bills.

“Revolution Wind has been exhaustively studied, fully permitted, and is 80 percent complete. The project supports more than 2,500 jobs – in construction, operations, shipbuilding, and manufacturing. The only possible reason for stopping this project now is President Trump’s bizarre vendetta against wind power. He has attacked energy projects across the country, and now he is showing once again that he would rather raise costs for families and lay off hundreds of workers than allow this nearly finished project to be completed.

“Connecticut is leading the way with an all-of-the-above energy strategy that keeps the lights on at home and our economy growing, and we will not let President Trump’s anti-energy administration shut us down. I will join leaders across New England in fighting this absurd order, because the American people deserve a government that works to lower costs, not raise them.”
