DeLauro Statement on Supreme Court Decision In Favor of Trump’s Travel Ban
WASHINGTON, DC (December 4, 2017)— Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s decision allowing President Trump’s executive order banning refugees and immigrants of eight countries—including five Muslim-majority countries—to go into effect.
“I am disappointed that the Supreme Court has allowed President Trump’s travel ban to go into effect. President Trump has made it clear on many occasions that this ban is rooted in religious discrimination, not national security. People in Connecticut and across the country have stood up to say that President Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric and policies have no place in our society, and we must not let this order change that belief. Instead, we must recommit as a nation to the American values of openness and diversity over hatred and fear.”
